The Parish of St. Ann
Sodality

The Parish of St. Ann Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality

The Sodality at St. Ann’s was founded in approximately 1977 by Mary Ann Hook and the first Prefect was Doris Haneshalger.  There have been 16 Prefects since then, and the current Prefect is Kathy Connor 537-2449.  The membership has grown from about 40 members in 1978 to 185 members in 2003.

The Sodality’s primary purpose is to aid in fostering in its members a deeper devotion and love for Mary.  In addition, they are encouraged to participate in a variety of charitable works for one another and for the larger community here in Sussex County.  Lectures are held periodically that educate in issues that are of interest to the members.

Meetings are held after the 8:30 Mass on the first Thursday of each month.  In order to reach women who work during the day, a few meetings are held in the evening.  There are no meetings held during the summer months.  An annual Retreat is sponsored by the Sodality, a Communion Breakfast and a variety of social events that promote fellowship are an important consideration in the annual planning.  The dues are nominal and all women in the parish are encouraged to be members.
